Extremely Self-Care for a Coach

chapter meeting hosted by Coach Lee

 reported by Coach Karen

The sharing tonight was so stimulating and enlightening as we ventured from our personal journey to coaching being.  Our exploration of the topic started by Coach Lee's awakening question, "Do you think you have given sufficient love to yourself?" as this is the ground for giving ourselves extremely care.

Benny believes that our perspectives of our own value is one of the most important factors affecting whether we can truly love ourselves, which in turn determines if we can love others as well.  Karen found that the appreciation of pure existence allows her to turn attention from doing to being of which the foundation of self-love is.  Jasmine experienced that as we grow and reach certain cornerstone in life, we begin to re-examine if we are leading a life we desire and how we can love and care for ourselves more.

Our discussion extended from the tangibles to the intangibles - of the things we can do to give ourselves more care to the inner essence we can connect with in giving us the strong foothold of our being.  We also had some exciting discovery and made distinction between concepts like 「理解」、「接納」, 「包容」、「寬容」, which envisioned us the frontier we can reach as we allow ourselves to grow and explore in our pathway.

And how all of these related to coaching? Interestingly, as our sharing continued, we found that what client needs most from the coach is not the outcome of how he can deal with the problems in his life, but is the space in which he can allow his authentic self express.  Then how can we ensure a safe space and supportive relationship is available for the client?  That depends on the power of love and care we can give ourselves and others.

As the chapter meeting ended, we felt so grateful that we had constructed such a supportive group that allowed us to grow and flourish together.  We agreed that every time joining our meeting is an act of our extremely self-care!
