Length: 30 minutes
Subjects: Coaching and Mentoring  CPD in school  Whole School Issues

Synopsis

Following a number of different coaching situations in action, the programme opens on day one of a three-day training session with trainer Mike Hughes introducing the principles of coaching.

Mike demonstrates one of the most common methodologies used in coaching - the GROW model: goal setting, helping to identify issues, where the teacher would like to be and how they are going to get there. He makes it clear that one of the great strengths of a coaching relationship is that it enables the teacher to take control of their own development and to be in charge of identifying the issues that they want to explore.

We eavesdrop on a real coaching session at Wymondham School in Suffolk where they have introduced coaching as a whole school approach. Finally the programme presents a reconstructed case study about how a new head teacher, using one to one coaching with experienced coach Graham Powell, was able to change the dynamics of her senior management team and help with her personal well-being.

Coaches are life learners and love interactions.  This evening, 6 coaches came together to "JAM" with their supportive system.

Lee uses "Ask and the answer will be there" as her humble attitude in seeking support from others.  Coach Bonnie responded with curiousity, "How would you woven the supports together as an automatic system?"

Susie believes "The Law of Attraction" in building her supportive system and her attraction in sharing what she has learnt builds followers.  Susie will facilitate the next IAC HK Chapter meeting in April with the theme of "Attraction".

Intruition led us to the discussion on self-coaching.  Benny disocvers himself by clarifying his thoughts, emotions and energy within his inner self as a process of purification for knowing the unknown.

We understood "Be Still" is the best moment to retrieve our inner-resources.  We trust the unlimitated resources wihtin nurture our authentic intention to "Give and Give" .

We came to the Chapter meeting by attraction and effortlessly got the support from each other through the process of group coaching each other.  We felt inspired and fulfilled when we left the Cafe. What a wonderful learning tonight.

Coaches attend the 6-8 Mar 2009 Retreat said,

I'm very glad to have joined the IAC Retreat organized by Bonnie. During the retreat I can learn coaching systematically, can grapse the essence of coaching and have insight in what "Being" a masterful coach would be. With an appropriate group size, I had ample opportunities to practise coaching and obtained valuable feedback. The retreat definitely fueled my passion towards coaching and encouraged me to take the IAC examination ~ by Coach Wong 2009
